The Abbey |
We were delighted to host Venla Freeman on Tuesday 24 May 2022 for an online OGA Lecture where discussed her role as the Corps' Finance Officer at The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps).
The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal’s Volunteer Corps), founded in 1907, is an all-female voluntary organisation which deploys multi-faceted rapid response teams to support civil and military authorities in times of national crisis. It is a vibrant organisation, with a diverse membership, and members are on call 24/7, 365 days a year to be of service to those who need their help.
Venla Freeman, an Abbey Old Girl, gave a fantastic presentation of both the history and current day activities of this unique, quirky, quasi-military unit, which has survived against all the odds for over 115 years.
